Now in death, he plots his return while drawing power from the pure souls of the children. He recognizes something in Kacie he's never seen before—a medium powerful enough to provide a vessel for his tainted soul.Kacie can't ignore the tortured souls of the children crying out to her every night. With Logan at her side, she will fight the Foxblood Demon. But can they banish this powerful phantom, or will Kacie lose not only her body, but her eternal soul to the monster.

Kimber Leigh Wheaton is a bestselling YA/NA author with a soft spot for sweet romance. She is married to her soul mate, has a teenage son, and shares her home with three dogs, four cats, and lots of dragons. No, she doesn’t live on a farm, she just loves animals. Kimber Leigh is addicted to romance, videogames, superheroes, villains, and chocolate—not necessarily in that order. (If she has to choose, she’ll take a chocolate covered superhero!) She currently lives in San Antonio, TX but has been somewhat a rolling stone in life, having resided in several different cities and states.

**eBook provided in exchange for an honest review by the author**I don't normally go for paranormal books, but for some reason the synopsis hooked me!Kacie has a talent. Without sounding 6th sense-ish "I can see dead people." well, at least their ghosts. For weeks, Kacie has been having a reoccurring nightmare. Every night, Kacie see's the body of a young girl lying at un-natural angles on the floor.Kacie's always blocked out her talent after her mother left her, Gavin and her Dad. To her, it's felt like a curse to her that's ruined their family. That is, until Logan Finley comes along. I don't know why, but something about Logan's and Kacie's relationship creeped me out, and that's with a capital C. There is nothing wrong with it, but it was a surprise to read towards the end that she's 15 (this might be obvious to other readers, but to me, it wasn't) It's like one second they're strangers and he's her crush and then they're acting like they've dated for years! Far too comfortable far too quickly for me... and I swear my hormones weren't like that at 15... not that I can remember that far back!Anyway, the story....It had me gripped! To the point where I was trying to have a social life but made sure I could be home and in bed for 9pm, just so that I could spend a few hours reading!Yardley made MY skin crawl. I felt claustrophobic and on edge reading certain points because I was so caught up in it, even fearing the life of some of the characters towards the end! I could see many possibilities for the outcome. If you love Supernatural and Ghost Hunters... you'll love this story! It was as if the author mashed both their world together and then some.Very intricate with so much thought into the process and also the supernatural world! Nothing is mythical in this series by the sounds of it, and I hope I can get back to read the rest!

Kacie sees dead people…..all the time… Sorry, couldn’t resist. So paranormal, suspense and romance all rolled into one book. I was a bit concerned that this one might have been trying too hard and would miss its target. I shouldn’t have worried. At all. There’s no lengthy prelude, no waiting for the action, you are right there, and what a thrill ride this is.The two elements of Kacie’s life mesh together, and as a result, essentially set her free.I felt that there was a real ratcheting up of the tension as the book went on, with the story seeming to gain momentum as it sped towards the finale. Real edge of the seat type stuff and a fab read. Looking forward to the next in the series!I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

Kacie has always seen ghosts, and it has ruined her life, causing her mother to leave and her father to blame her, and causes nightmares every night of gruesome murders. However, her life changes when, at a party, her crush, Logan, saves her from a ghost and invites her to join the Orion Circle, a group of people who investigate the supernatural. As they help Kacie control her powers, they are also looking into a haunted mansion where a demented cult leader, the Foxblood demon, murdered 13 children and is now using their souls to come back to life. With the Foxblood demon’s sights set on Kacie and the murdered children haunting her, will Kacie, along with Logan and the other members of the Orion Circle, be able to banish him before he possesses her.Tortured Souls is an enjoyable YA paranormal novel with some action, creepy suspense and a sweet romance, which felt like a teen version of Supernatural set in a high school. It was a fast paced book but did slow down during the middle. One thing I did not like about this book was that everyone accepted easily that the paranormal existed and those who did not were portrayed as being closed minded and wrong.Kacie is a nice normal teen who has had a hard time growing up, but I did find her a bit annoying and I felt she had to rely on others too often. There are lots of really good secondary characters in this book and I liked the sweet romance between Kacie and Logan and I liked that there was not a love triangle.I did not enjoy this book as much Shadow Fire but it is still an enjoyable novel and I am looking forward to the next book in the Orion Circle. I would recommend Tortured Souls to fans of The Holders by Julianna Scott and Finding Sky by Joss Stirling.
